About the harbour
It started with a dream
In 2016 the first boat, Danny Buoy, took 100 passengers onto the dam. Toro Ya Me, “my dream” in Setswana, followed for 35 more. Their rule from day one: no hop-on, hop-off, but a proper outing on the Magaliesberg and the dam.
COVID hit them hard. They held on into their busiest years yet, which paid for The Alba: bought at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront and trucked across the country with a police escort. Alba is Italian for sunrise.
Dion and Natasha Mostert opened their guest house on the dam in 2003. The boats came from Dion's African dream.
A place for locals and visitors
Some guests come for a short scenic cruise, others spend the day mixing activities with lunch by the water, and many come back for celebrations, family outings or quiet afternoons away from the city. What began as a simple point on the dam has grown into a place to slow down, reconnect and spend time outdoors.
